St. Patrick's Day at Home 2021
Hello Dear Friends,
I just wanted to take a minute to write to you personally and say how sorry I am that I am not able to perform and be with you this St Patrick’s, making music, sharing in the lovely community of American and Irish Culture.
There is truly so much to celebrate right now, and I hope that you take the opportunity to pause and make some space to be joyful at home. There is so much hope in the air!
Here are some fun things you can do at home this St. Patrick’s Day to celebrate.
1 - Make a fancy - Irish-American Cocktail. This cocktail has been my jam all winter, and I think you will love it. It is essentially a manhattan made with Irish whiskey instead of bourbon, but I think it might be even better. It is smooth and delicious. We have be having a debate on my instagram as to what to call it, but some of the front runners at the moment are “The Dublin” or a “Woodlawn” or and “Emerald.” Give it a try, and let me know your vote after you have tasted it.
2 parts Irish Whiskey 🥃⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 part Sweet Vermouth⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 dash bitters.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
shake, serve with a cherry
2 - Put on a playlist that gets you in the mood! Now, there are lots of options out there, but here is one I made for you. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN ON SPOTIFY. This 1 + 40 min of music is curated by someone actually in the biz, and all artist that I love. I think you will find it interesting, and a bit unexpected. I have inluded a lot of my actually favorite trad irish tracks, ones that inspired me to play, PLUS a good selection or irish folk and modern Irish artist that are really worth listening to this day to celebrate ALL that is Irish Music. For example, Did you know John Prine lived in Kinvara, Ireland? Another local artist from Kinvara, Declan O’Rourke might be someone new to you, but I guarantee you will love his voice.
3 - Sit down with family and friends near and far and watch a LIVE STREAM CONCERT. I can recommend two to you from artist I play with and LOVE.
We Banjo 3 LIVE from Dublin - filmed live this last Saturday at a church converted into distillery (how perfect is that!) You can still purchase tickets and watch ANYTIME.
Carlos Nuñez Celtic Beethoven On Line - Live on March 17 - you can stream this to watch some high level and high powered music performed by absolute masters of stage craft. Carlos is so entertaining live and weaves the coolest stories about each piece.
As for my plans? I will be right there with you. I hope to find ways to relish in the unusual circumstance of having this day off for once. I will most definitely putting on some of my favorite bands, making a fancy drink, and just taking a night off to relax and enjoy a strangely quite day. Saving up my energy for next year, when we will all be back together.
Sláinte,
Kiana
